President Museveni Advises Ugandans to Ensure Income Generation

President Yoweri Museveni has challenged people in Mubende District to focus on generating income for their families, saying that with time other developments like tarmac roads and electricity will be added. The President said this at the 39th anniversary celebration of the NRM/A liberation struggle at Mubende National Teachers’ College under the theme: “Salutations to Those Who Re-Sanctified Our Homeland.”

Accompanied by the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Maama Janet Museveni, Museveni told them that income generation should be number one for Ugandans. He explained that once families have steady incomes, other developments will automatically fall in place and improve living standards for all.

He emphasized the fact that while it is good to have tarmac roads and electricity, among other infrastructure, people must first focus on economic activities that rake in money; hence he encouraged Ugandans to do farming, trading, and other businesses that create wealth at household levels.

The president expressed his appreciation to the liberation army combatants, pointing out that through the sacrifice they made, progress in this country is moving positively. Museveni reassured people in Mubende District of continued commitment to uplift their welfare by the government but said all that needed income generation to precede everything.

Government officials, leaders of the communities, and citizens commemorated the anniversaries of the celebrations, reflecting on the achievements brought about by the NRM/A struggle. Most of the participants welcomed the President’s call for them to rise up in self-sufficiency for economic growth in the development of Uganda.

Museveni reiterated that his government’s emphasis is on economically empowering Ugandans. He, therefore, called upon families to utilize the means at their disposal in bettering their lives. As such, the President made it clear that indeed, income generation will be the base on which all other developments will be built, and Ugandans must take charge of their financial futures.
