The much-loved Baby and Kids Expo is coming back for its third edition, promising fun, learning, and essential services for parents and children. Organized by Kiara Events Limited, the event will take place from May 9 to 11, 2025, at the UMA Multipurpose Hall in Lugogo. This year’s theme, “Strengthening Families Through Healthcare, Growth, and Zero Violence,” highlights the expo’s mission to support parents, children, and caregivers with practical tools and expert advice.
Joweria Nabuuma, Managing Director of Kiara Events Limited, expressed excitement about this year’s edition, building on the success of previous events. “The Baby and Kids Expo continues to grow in impact and reach,” she said. “Following the success of our 2024 edition, we’re excited to deliver an even more impactful experience in 2025.” The expo will feature a wide range of products and services aimed at improving child well-being, alongside expert discussions on crucial topics such as raising children with special needs, mental and physical health, first aid, and teaching good values to young children.
One of the key attractions will be free health services, including vaccinations and triage (basic medical checks). Special sessions will also focus on children with Down syndrome, autism, and other neonatal conditions. “We shall conduct health talks, free vaccinations, triage services, and special focus sessions for children with special needs,” Nabuuma explained. Beyond health, the expo will offer plenty of entertainment, such as gymnastics, dance performances, kids’ fashion shows, and live music by young artists.
The theme of this year’s expo is especially important given Uganda’s young population. Officials pointed out that 44% of the country’s people are under the age of 14, meaning that the future depends on how well children are raised today. “The sobering statistics on childcare, growth, and development demand collective, urgent action,” said a representative from the Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social Development. The ministry is actively promoting better parenting through programs like the National Parenting Programme, Integrated Early Childhood Development, and empowerment grants for vulnerable families.
“Let us use this moment not only to showcase but also to inspire and build stronger, more resilient families across our nation,” the official added. The expo is seen as a key platform for spreading awareness and encouraging positive parenting practices.
Exhibitors are also looking forward to the event. Diana Kajumba, Director of Kids Nook, shared her enthusiasm about participating again. “Last year was a quality experience; this year we hope to have giveaways, better product demonstrations, and an overall educative experience for our visitors,” she said. Many businesses and organizations will be showcasing products like baby food, clothing, toys, and educational materials, giving parents a chance to explore the latest innovations in childcare.
The Baby and Kids Expo is more than just a marketplace—it’s a space for learning and connection. Parents and caregivers will have the opportunity to attend workshops and talks led by doctors, child psychologists, and parenting experts. Topics will include nutrition for growing children, handling tantrums, and creating a safe home environment. There will also be discussions on preventing violence against children, aligning with the expo’s goal of promoting zero violence in families.
For children, the expo will be a place of fun and discovery. Activities like face painting, storytelling, and interactive games will keep young visitors entertained while also teaching them new skills. The kids’ fashion show is expected to be a major highlight, with little ones strutting their stuff in stylish outfits. Live performances by young musicians will add to the festive atmosphere, making the expo a memorable experience for families.
The return of the Baby and Kids Expo comes at a time when parents are increasingly looking for reliable information and support in raising their children. With so many products and services available, events like this help families make informed choices. Whether it’s finding the right baby formula, learning about early childhood education, or simply connecting with other parents, the expo offers something for everyone.
Organizers are expecting a large turnout, given the growing popularity of the event. They encourage early registration to avoid missing out on free health services and exclusive workshops. “We want every parent, guardian, and child to leave the expo feeling empowered and informed,” Nabuuma said.
As Uganda continues to focus on improving child welfare, events like the Baby and Kids Expo play a crucial role in bringing together families, experts, and businesses to share knowledge and resources. This year’s edition promises to be the biggest and most impactful yet, reinforcing its reputation as a must-attend event for anyone invested in the well-being of children.
With just a few months to go, excitement is building among exhibitors and attendees alike. The Baby and Kids Expo 2025 is set to be a celebration of family, health, and happiness—an event where parents can learn, children can play, and communities can come together for a brighter future.
