Bryan White Investigated for Murder After Lover Dies in Fire Incident

Kampala’s once-flamboyant socialite, Bryan White, real name Brian Kirumira—is back under the public spotlight for all the wrong reasons. The man who once dazzled Ugandans with displays of wealth and larger-than-life charity events is now at the center of a grim investigation following the death of a 25-year-old woman, identified as Caroline Nalubwama, at his home in Kyamula, Makindye Division. The incident, which occurred on the evening of October 27, 2025, is being treated by police as a suspicious death, raising new questions about the controversial life of the self-proclaimed philanthropist.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police, Nalubwama died in what is believed to have been a gas explosion inside Bryan White’s residence. She was reportedly rushed to Kiruddu Hospital in critical condition, but doctors pronounced her dead on arrival. Deputy police spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed that detectives have cordoned off the home and launched a full-scale investigation to determine what exactly happened that fateful evening. “The territorial police at Katwe are actively investigating the circumstances under which one Nalubwama Caroline, aged 25, allegedly sustained serious injuries resulting in her death,” Owoyesigyire said in a statement, adding that several items, including burnt clothes and damaged curtains, have been recovered as evidence.

Forensic experts and fire officers have since examined the scene, while Bryan White himself—who reportedly sustained minor injuries, has recorded a statement and is receiving medical attention. Police say the deceased’s body has been transferred to City Mortuary Mulago for post-mortem examination, as investigators seek CCTV footage and witness statements to reconstruct the sequence of events. Though some early reports claimed Bryan White had been detained, police clarified that he remains a suspect under investigation and that his home is currently being treated as a crime scene. Caroline’s father, 52-year-old Tom Mutyaba, is said to have filed the initial report at Katwe Police Station under reference DEF 73/2025, sparking what now appears to be a high-profile probe.

To many Ugandans, Bryan White’s name evokes memories of a man who rose to sudden fame in 2017, showering crowds with cash and promising to “awaken the youth” through his Bryan White Foundation. His glamorous lifestyle, luxury cars, lavish parties, and political connections, made him a household name, even as questions lingered about the source of his wealth. But behind the glitter was a growing cloud of controversy. Several young women later accused him of sexual exploitation, physical assault, and manipulation under the guise of charity. The most notable among them, Vivian Mutanda, gave a harrowing televised account in which she described the foundation as a “trap for desperate girls,” claiming she was forced into sexual encounters and even coerced into abortions. Her revelations painted a dark picture of Bryan White’s empire, one that seemed fueled as much by power as by money.

While some of his accusers later withdrew their statements—claiming pressure, fear, or political interference, Bryan White’s reputation never fully recovered. In 2020, he resurfaced in a frail state, claiming to be battling an undisclosed illness that had left him dependent on oxygen. In an emotional interview, he said his health struggles and public humiliation were the result of sabotage by people envious of his influence among Uganda’s youth. He appealed to President Yoweri Museveni for support, portraying himself as a misunderstood patriot unfairly cast aside. The President, however, did not publicly respond, and by 2021, Bryan White had faded into near obscurity, his foundation disbanded and his public appearances reduced to rumors and social media whispers.

Now, with this new tragedy, his name has returned to the headlines—this time, in connection with a possible crime of passion or negligence. The details remain murky, and speculation is rife on social media. Some have suggested that the alleged gas explosion might have been an accident, while others suspect foul play, citing Bryan White’s controversial past and history with young women. As police comb through evidence and forensic results, the story has reignited public debate about how easily fame and influence can shield powerful figures from accountability in Uganda’s justice system.

For now, the once-celebrated “youth ambassador” faces perhaps the most serious challenge of his life—a criminal investigation that could either vindicate him or permanently close the curtain on one of Uganda’s most talked-about socialite stories. Whether this was a tragic accident or something more sinister, one fact remains clear: the era of Bryan White’s flashy confidence and untouchable aura may be coming to an end. And as the police continue to piece together the truth behind the fire that claimed Caroline Nalubwama’s life, the nation watches with bated breath, wondering whether justice will finally catch up with a man who once seemed larger than the law itself.
