CNOOC Powers Exciting Kickoff of Bunyoro-Kitara Amasaza Cup with Dual-District Matches

Celebrating Unity, Talent, and Cultural Heritage

The highly anticipated Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom – CNOOC Amasaza Cup gets underway today, Sunday, December 15, 2024, with a new and exciting twist. Matches will be played simultaneously in two different districts, offering football fans an action-packed day.

Dual Matches in Masindi and Kagadi Districts

A gala-style tournament that was pitting three counties namely Buruli, Bujenje, and Masindi Municipality occurred at the Masindi Stadium, Masindi District. Teams play on a round robin where a winning team was selected and then move into another phase of competition.

Meanwhile, the electrifying match between Buyaga West and Buyaga East counties will be held in Kagadi District. The venue will be the Kagadi Model Primary School stadium, which is expected to be filled with enthusiastic fans.

A Celebration of Unity and Sportsmanship

Organized by the Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom in partnership with CNOOC, the Amasaza Cup brings 15 counties together in celebrating their unity, sportsmanship, and the rich cultural heritage of the region. According to Andrew Byakutaga, the prime minister of the Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom, the tournament seeks to foster regional togetherness through sports.

We are trying to unite the region. Sport is one thing that attracts people from all corners, and we are tapping into it to unite Bunyoro subjects,” Byakutaga explained.

Fixtures to Watch

The action will roll on, come Monday, December 16, 2024, to Kisiita Stadium in Kakumiro District. It will feature Bugangaizi West up against Bugangaizi East. This is going to be one of those heart-stopping matches, full of fanfare as counties are pitted against each other for dominance and a place in the next round.

Talent Development and Bonding within the Community

The prime minister has called on football fans and members of the community to attend these matches, cheering their favorite counties. He reiterated that the tournament is not only about bonding but also about identifying and nurturing local talent.

“Let’s cheer them up. Besides bonding, we also want to identify talents and build sports so that we can be nationally recognized for producing key sports talents,” Byakutaga noted.

Fostering Regional Growth Through Sports

The Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom-CNOOC Amasaza Cup has remained the avenue towards solidifying the region with unity, cultural pride, and sports development. As the competition takes shape, fans anticipate more entertaining matches and probably talent they would see play for their kingdom in the national or international arena.
