Kyabazinga Compliments MTN Uganda for Contributing to the Growth of Busoga

His Majesty William Gabula Nadiope IV, the Kyabazinga of Busoga, has highly praised MTN Uganda for continued vital support in elevating the development programmes of the Kingdom. The company has been increasingly contributing to an improved life of the people in health, education, and sporting disciplines.

The message by the Kyabazinga was delivered during a special gathering at the Sailing Club in Jinja City on January 18, 2025, by the Second Deputy Prime Minister, Owek. Alhaj Osman Ahmed Noor, who represented the king and said that the king was grateful for the invaluable contributions that MTN is making towards the building of a strong and prosperous Busoga.

“Let me thank MTN Uganda for its tireless efforts. Invaluable contributions are what this company is giving to the kingdom. I believe that together we can do more—let’s keep working together for a well-being and lively kingdom for all,” it read from the statement of Kyabazinga.

Owek. Alhaj Osman also announced that the Kyabazinga had become a UNAIDS ambassador, tasked with duties of advocating against early pregnancies among young girls. He called upon MTN Uganda to join hands in fighting this increasing concern, adding that it needed collective action now.

“Our girls, daughters, and sisters are suffering because of dropping out of school due to early pregnancies. We have to join hands in supporting our children and rescue them from this crisis,” he noted.

Some dignitaries present during the function included Prof. Wasswa Balunywa, a member of the board for MTN Momo, and Richard Yego, chief executive officer, MTN Momo Uganda. Their presence during the occasion only signifies how MTN wants deep engagement with the people of Busoga.

For a long time, MTN Uganda has been undertaking various projects at community levels geared toward digital and financial inclusion, among other development programs within a social context. These continuous partnerships of MTN and various regions of Uganda have constantly shown a commitment toward corporate social responsibility for long-term development.

The people of Busoga are, however, optimistic that the partnership between MTN and the kingdom will translate into further change for good, availing more opportunities to future generations. As the upliftment of the kingdom goes on, it is believed that this synergy between MTN Uganda and the Busoga Kingdom shall lead the way into a brighter tomorrow.
