Muhoozi’s Military Passion: ‘No True Man Skips Army Service!

General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), has described his role as the most exciting and fulfilling job in the world. In a recent post on X, Gen. Kainerugaba shared his enthusiasm for leading the nation’s military, calling it “exhilarating, thrilling, and exciting! It’s the best job in the world without a doubt!”

Reflecting on his position, Gen. Kainerugaba rhetorically asked, “How does it feel to be CDF of UPDF?” before passionately expressing his love for the role. He also shared a personal philosophy that has shaped his perspective on military service. “A long time ago, I read somewhere that being a soldier is the second-best thing a man can do. The best is to be a priest—dedicating one’s life entirely to Almighty God, forsaking all women, and focusing only on Him. When I heard about the women issue, I knew I couldn’t manage,” he remarked with a touch of humor.

Gen. Kainerugaba’s comments highlight his deep appreciation for the military profession and its role in shaping individuals. He emphasized the importance of discipline, integrity, and service, values he believes are central to being a soldier. His remarks also shed light on his commitment to ensuring that the UPDF remains a respected and transparent institution.

Addressing concerns about corruption in the UPDF recruitment process, Gen. Kainerugaba issued a stern warning against bribery. “If any UPDF officer or man asks for money to recruit you, tell me their name here, and they will see!” he declared. He stressed that recruitment should be based on merit and integrity, not financial influence.

The CDF outlined the key qualifications for joining the UPDF, stating, “All you need is to be healthy, be a Ugandan, be disciplined, and have the right education level.” He encouraged eligible citizens to apply without fear of exploitation, assuring them that the recruitment process would be fair and transparent.

Gen. Kainerugaba also made a strong appeal to young Ugandan and African men, emphasizing the transformative power of military service. “You’ll never be a true man if you do not serve in the military. It’s impossible!” he proclaimed. He believes that military training plays a crucial role in shaping character, instilling discipline, and fostering a sense of responsibility.

His remarks underscore his dedication to promoting a culture of service and integrity within the UPDF. By addressing issues of corruption and emphasizing the importance of merit-based recruitment, Gen. Kainerugaba aims to strengthen public trust in the military. His call for young men to embrace military service reflects his belief in the UPDF’s role as a cornerstone of national development and security.

Gen. Kainerugaba’s leadership style is characterized by a blend of passion, transparency, and a commitment to excellence. His enthusiasm for his role as CDF is evident in his words and actions, inspiring both his troops and the wider Ugandan public. By sharing his personal philosophy and addressing critical issues within the military, he has positioned himself as a leader who is not only dedicated to his duties but also deeply connected to the values of service and discipline.

As CDF, Gen. Kainerugaba continues to champion the UPDF’s mission of protecting Uganda’s sovereignty and contributing to regional stability. His recent remarks serve as a reminder of the importance of military service in nation-building and the need for transparency in recruitment processes. By encouraging young Ugandans to join the UPDF, he hopes to cultivate a new generation of disciplined and patriotic citizens who are committed to serving their country.

In a world where leadership is often tested by challenges, Gen. Kainerugaba’s unwavering passion for his role and his commitment to integrity set a powerful example. His declaration that being CDF is “the best job in the world” resonates not only with his troops but also with all Ugandans who value service, discipline, and national pride. Through his leadership, the UPDF continues to uphold its reputation as a professional and respected institution, dedicated to safeguarding Uganda’s future.
